The ingredients:

• Tsubaki (camellia japonica seed oil) has been used by Japanese rope artists for many years. As one of the lightest and fastest-absorbing oils in the world, it is popular in both luxury skin/hair treatment and for preventing oxidation on high-end kitchen knives. It’s an amazingly nourishing and versatile ingredient.

• Apricot kernel oil is slightly heavier than Tsubaki but equally rich in moisturizing compounds. These two combine with a small amount of beeswax to help lock the conditioner into the rope and slow evaporation. Your rope will be left feeling healthy and well-conditioned but not sodden.

• The beeswax content is low to leave only the lightest dusting on the surface of your rope. This will burnish into the fibers with use and help to both retain oils and repel sweat.

• Lastly, are the natural preservatives. Two different kinds of natural tree extract are employed for their anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties. As a bonus, they also smell lovely.

• Hinoki (Chamaecyparis obtusa) is the only wood used in traditional onsen because of its high resistance to microbes even when constantly exposed to moisture. It has a light and fresh scent many find centering and nostalgic.

• Atlas cedar is a lesser-known cousin to eastern red cedar with a more subtle scent. With light, resinous citrus notes, it supports hinoki with a wide range of anti-fungal, anti-bacterial compounds.

• Vitamin E slows the aging of natural fibers due to oxidation and UV damage. Even though the naturally occurring antioxidant content of the above ingredients is already plenty, pure and naturally derived vitamin E boosts it!
