Bondage to freedom

Year: 2025
Client: Chrissy Costanza
Title: “Rope” Music Video
Brief: When director Shelby Parks set out to create the visual world of “Rope,” she brought Devil Mask Studio on to execute her vision.

Melissa led the project, drawing on over a decade of on-set experience to design and execute on an overnight shoot. Working closely with Shelby and Chrissy, she built a custom starburst structure and developed a tie that combined partial suspension with intricate hand bondage – balancing aesthetics, safety, and performance under production conditions.

PST ART at The Hammer

Year: 2024
Client: Ron Finley, the Gansta Gardener
Title: Breath(e) at the Hammer Museum
Brief: Ron Finley explores the intersection of environmentalism, social justice, and art through live garden installations – and invited Devil Mask Studio to help realize that vision.

To make those connections more explicit, Andrew used organic, natural fiber ropes as both a literal and conceptual bridge – binding living plants to urban materials and reinforcing the installation’s themes. Delivered under tight timelines and extreme heat conditions, the final work guided attendees from an exterior garden into an interior exhibition of Ron’s signature artistic shovels.
