The Why Knot Starter Kit is designed for people who’ve just started learning rope (or want to stop borrowing ours). It includes everything you need to take your shibari practice home: four 8-meter hanks of conditioned jute rope (available in black or natural undyed), a 1oz tin of rope conditioning balm to keep your jute supple, and a tenugui cloth for carrying and storing your rope.

Jute is the fiber we use and recommend for shibari practice – it has good natural grip, burnishes over time, and responds well to conditioning. The rope in this kit is ready to use straight out of the bag.

Kit includes:

• 4 × 8m jute rope hanks, 5.5mm diameter (black or undyed – subject to availability)
• 1 × 1oz rope conditioning balm
• 1 × tenugui carrying cloth (design varies)
