Join Devil Mask Studio and Queers Do Rope for a weekend of classes with Ms. Reemah and Lavender. We’re trying something a little different for this collaboration and offering workshop tickets on a sliding scale
Audit Ticket – $15 Per Person
Space will be reserved on the studio benches for a limited number of audit seats. Audit tickets are for observers – they do not include the opportunity to tie along or receive feedback during the workshop.
Supported Ticket – $60 Per Tying Pair
These tickets are offered below-cost as a way to increase access to this workshop. Please contact us if you need a payment plan for this tier.
Supported Tickets are not offered as an ‘early bird’ price or ‘a good deal’ – please do not artificially limit access to this opportunity by purchasing these tickets if you can afford another tier.
Standard Ticket – $80 Per Tying Pair
These tickets cover our costs in producing the event. If you aren’t sure where you fit, this is the ‘default’ tier.
Pay It Forward Ticket – $100 Per Tying Pair
These tickets cover our costs, plus support broader access to this workshop. Thank you for making this model workable.
Workshops:
July 19: The Lavender Harness
Over time we began notice the physical impacts of being in TKs and that they are an exclusionary structure for many body types. We also noticed placing the hands behind the back can be triggering for many people. As a result, we created The Lavender Harness, which utilizes a double column or single column and hojo cuff mechanism (depending on the body and person) to replace the standard box tie. In this class we will guide participants in building this harness. The Lavender Harness can be loaded from the front, back and side.
Prerequisites: tying partners must have knowledge of both a single and double columns. You will need at least two hanks of rope for this harness. Tying partners should also be familiar with managing tension and constructing frictions and lockoffs for harnesses.
July 20: Suspension 101
In this class we will explore how to build suspendable harnesses, creating and placing attachment lines, and important body mechanics to consider for the top and bottom during suspension. This is an advanced beginner class for those who have a firm grasp on the foundational aspects of rope bondage.
Prerequisites: tying partners must know a noncollapsible single column, be prepared to tie suspension-ready harnesses on the body (we will review how to make harnesses functional/suspendable as needed), and bring at least 8 hanks of rope
July 20: Thigh & Shin Binders – QTBIPOC Exclusive Workshop
This class will discuss the fun shenanigans of the thigh binder (with a focus on incorporating waist rope) and the calf binder. This tie will be demonstrated in a partial suspension, including discussions around attachment points, weight distribution, and lifting.
All of the ties can be self tied too.
About 2-4 hanks will be needed, with an understanding of single columns, frictions, and kannukis.
July 21: Tying Different Bodies
Every single body and person is built differently; physically and mentally. We will discuss and conceptualize things we should always consider and practice when tying all genders, colors, and sizes. Despite what is portrayed in the media or what you may have heard, rope can be experienced by and placed on various bodies. This is a beginners class. 1-2 hanks are needed, depending on the person you are tying. Knowledge of a single column, half hitch, and reverse tension would be helpful, if you plan to practice in class (although are not required).
Ms Reemah (she/her)
Ms. Reemah is a queer woman of color from Atlanta. She has been a part of the kink community since 2017. Ms. Reemah came up in the sisterhood Black Femme Doms (BFD)-Atlanta. She is on the organizing board for Melanin Munch ATL and the founder of Haus Obsidian. Ms. Reemah derives immense joy and connectedness through rope play. There is an intimate connection between a rigger and rope bottom that is profound and like no other. While also providing an outlet for creativity by manifesting the beauty and strength of the bottom. Ms. Reemah has taken strides to increase the visibility, education, participation, and awareness of BIPOCs in the kink community.
Lavender (she/her)
Ever since Lavender discovered rope, she has sought out education for rope through attending demos, rope labs, classes/workshops and reading books. One thing she really likes about rope is the transfer and exchange of energy that happens between the top and the bottom. What she gains from doing kink is strengthening the tethers that tie her to a person during the scene and building blocks for strong connections with others within the community. She seeks to increase the visibility of queer black rope bottoms who are curious about all things rope!
