COVID & Respiratory Illness

The safety and well-being of our community are of utmost importance to us. In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Devil Mask Studio (The Studio) has established this COVID-19 Policy to help our attendees make informed choices, mitigate risk, and create as safe and healthy an environment as possible.

Context:

The COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing. Using CDC and ASHRAE (Equivalent) Clean Air standards as benchmarks, our goal is to layer risk mitigation practices to bring the community risk of airborne transmission in the studio as close to zero as possible.

Only you can decide what level of risk is acceptable for you. Close physical proximity (i.e. tying) significantly increases the risk of transmission. Individual risk mitigation practices (i.e. masking, NONS, social distancing) can further protect you from COVID-19 and are welcome in the studio.

Baseline Risk Mitigation:

Vaccination Requirement: All individuals in our studio space are required to be up-to-date as defined by the CDC – this currently means one shot of the 2023-2024 updated vaccine. Documentation may be requested upon entry; we accept both Digital Vaccine Records and documentation from the clinic administering the shot. Attendees with a medical exemption must provide valid documentation to waive this requirement.

Air Quality & Ventilation: The Studio maintains an Air Change per Hour (ACH) rate of at least 15 through the use of HVAC and multiple air purifiers placed throughout the premises.
Weather permitting, windows will be open to increase airflow in the space.

Self Monitoring: We expect all attendees and staff to self-select out of Studio activities if they feel sick, have been recently exposed to COVID-19, or test positive. An opportunity to tie or be tied is not worth endangering others. Misleading staff and/or tying partners about your current risk level will be treated as a consent violation.

Mask Usage: Masks are optional but strongly encouraged when in close physical proximity.

Personal Responsibility:
Assessment of Risk: Attendees are encouraged to evaluate their individual risk factors before participating in any activities within the Studio.

Negotiation & Risk Profile: Participants should engage in clear and honest negotiations regarding their COVID-19 risk profiles, including any additional precautions or requirements they may have.
Health Disclosure: If attendees experience any COVID-19 symptoms, test positive, or learn of close contact with a confirmed case in the days before an event, they should contact the Studio. Names will be held in strict confidence.

Exposure Protocols:
If The Studio becomes aware of a COVID exposure at a Studio event, we will contact all attendees via the email used to register for the event to share that there was an exposure.

Event Rentals & Rope Jams:
Event hosts may choose to implement more stringent risk mitigation practices (e.g. requiring masking in the space). If those requirements are in place, we will note them on both the online event listing and at check-in.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we navigate these challenging times. Devil Mask Studio is committed to providing a safe and responsible space for our community, and we encourage open communication and negotiation to ensure the well-being of all attendees.
